Service Learning

Dear NTHU Freshman:

  1. “Service Learning” is a required zero-credit subject. You are required to participate at least 60 hours of course before you graduate. The passing standard is C-. A retake is needed shall you fail.
  2. The Service Learning course will be given by the following two types of units:
    • By Departments and Interdisciplinary Programs: Some general works related to the department, including professional course issues and/or learning issues. It is aimed to promote the students to apply what they’ve learned to further learning effectiveness.
    • By the Division of Students Activities and Residential College Programs: Students clubs, administrative office, and volunteer groups will offer works that aim on helping others in order to achieve the goal of “learning by doing” and “training students with essential abilities”.
  3. Students who select this course will need to be trained for 10 to 14 hours. After training, students engage in planned service activities for 16 to 20 hours. In total, students have to spend at least 30 hours in this course.
  4. If you would like to select the course, you have to log in the Academic Information Systems. The course code of Service-Learning courses is ‘ZY’. Course selection occurs from 2022/08/18 to 2022/08/22 for freshmen.
